UNIDO is a strategic partner in the tenth edition of Meet ICT

The United Nations Office for Promotion, Investment and Technology (UNIDO) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Bahrain Technology Companies Association (BTEC) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to become a strategic partner in the tenth edition of the Information and Communication Technology Conference (MET-ICT).

The tenth edition of the Information and Communication Technology Conference (MITT) and the Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (BITEX) will be held over three days from June 14 to 16, under the patronage of the Minister of Transport and Communications, His Excellency Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

Tariq Fakhro, Chairman of the Bahrain Technology Companies Association (BTC), said: "The partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Bahrain (UNIDO) reflects the international interest in the field of communications technology, and the Bahraini interest in particular, as the ICT sector is developing very rapidly, and is witnessing new technologies and innovations related to information systems, networks and applications."

Fakhro added: "In the association and through organizing this conference, we are working to keep abreast of developments in the communications technology sector, how to apply it in Bahrain in the best way, and the extent of its benefit to the national economy and development in general, relying on our partners, especially UNIDO, which spares no effort in supporting us."

For his part, Mr. Afif Barhoumi, Investment Promotion Expert of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), said that the organization is honored to continue its strategic partnership for 10 years with the Meet ICT Conference and Bytex exhibition. We are actively involved in promoting the conference, exhibition and FDI within the region as it is in line with our mission of achieving the SDGs such as SDG 9 – building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation that falls under our mandate.

"Moreover, this technology event provides a global platform for entrepreneurs, private and public sectors to benefit from the adoption of digitization, knowledge and expertise provided through workshops and access to emerging new technologies or innovations such as artificial intelligence, robotics and fintech tools as examples to maximize performance and efficiency in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

Ahmed Al Hujairi, CEO of WorkSmart Events, said that the Meet ICT Conference and the Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (BITEX) are the largest ICT event in Bahrain under the theme "Leading the Journey Towards a Digital Economy through Artificial Intelligence".
